Celebrate our wild and scenic river.  Joins us to explore the Assabet from Damonmill to the Calf Pasture.  Put in your canoe or kayak between 10 and 11 am and paddle down the river searching for clues and stickers along the way.  This family-friendly paddle takes between one and two hours depending on how fast you paddle and how intensely you observe.  Treats await the paddlers at the end.  Call the OAR office to register and reserve your space on the shuttle back to Damonmill to retrieve your car.

Fri., June 20 at 7 pm

Old Manse in Concord

River Solstice

Celebrate the solstice with members of OAR, SVT, and the Musketaquid Center for the Arts and Environment.  Begin with a musical picnic on the grounds of the Old Manse and end the evening with a twilight paddle past the drumming at the Old Calf Pasture and Egg Rock.  Bring your candle lantern (directions to make one coming soon).  This evening is becoming one of our favorite traditions.  Call the OAR office for details.

The 21st Annual Assabet River Cleanup was a huge success!  Braving the dreary weather, over 150 volunteers came out to clean up the river.  In towns all along the river, including Concord, Acton, Maynard, Stow, Hudson, Marlborough, Northborough, and Westborough, volunteers pulled out debris that included beer kegs, shopping carts, a clothes washer, a gumball machine, sofas, bicycles, and many, many tires. A morning of hard work was followed by a pizza celebration along the river. A big thank you to all our sponsors and volunteers!

Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007 Assabet River Canoe and Kayak trip.  Thanks to volunteer leader Rick Beinecke, twelve paddlers enjoyed  a beautiful trip from Gleasondale in Stow to historic Ice House Landing in Maynard, birding and discussing the history and current issues of this important river.
Four Tuesdays in June and July 2007 Water Wise Workshops for kids (ages 6 -12)
