Your voice has been heard : “Protect our rivers and streams!”
In late October the state Department of Environmental Protection redefined how much water can be pumped out of a river basin: until the river is as dry as in the worst drought. OAR members and other concerned people around the state took action and told state policy-makers that our rivers should not be pumped dry. They heard you, and are rethinking the definition of safe yield. "Safe yield" must be defined to protect our fish and aquatic life, as it has in the past.
Stay tuned to hear what the final outcome will be, and whether we will need to speak up again.
