Data summary of 2001 and 1954 Fish Surveys (Excel sheet)

The data shown here (click on the title above for more detail) is from the Department of Fisheries and Wildlife 2001 survey of the SuAsCo Watershed and from the Division of Fisheries and Game 1954 survey of the Merrimack and Ispwich Drainages.

The results are not directly comparable, because survey techniques have changed over the years and because the level of effort for each survey is difficult to compare. However some trends are noticable in the summary below. For example: the number and percentage of chain pickerel, fall fish, and creek chubsuckers have decreased since 1954; small mouth bass are no longer found but the number and percent of large mouth bass increased between 1954 and 2001; common carp where not reported in 1954 but are found in 2001.
