Pictoral Tour of Cold Harbor Brook, Northborough
Cold Harbor Brook is a medium-sized tributary of the
Assabet River that flows out of Rocky Pond in Boylston.
It passes under Central St. and Reservoir St. before
entering Northborough, where it makes its way along
Church St and under Rt. 290.

The stream then forms a couple of small
pools in some attractive property between Crawford St.
and Fisher St. and travels along behind Crawford St.,
passing under West St. and then Cherry St., where the
staff gage for the StreamWatch program is located.
The area surrounding Cold
Harbor Brook
along Crawford St. from Church St. south to West Main
St. is owned by the Department of Environmental Management
and is maintained as a flood plain, although hayfields
are still mowed in the northern part of the area.
Downstream of Cherry St., the brook was
dammed by beavers, creating a swampy area.
| After flowing behind a residential
neighborhood and under Lincoln St., Cold Harbor Brook
skirts the playground of the Lincoln Street School and
makes its way to the center of town, passing under Church
St. |
| Cold Harbor Brook then flows
into Wallace Pond before ducking under Hudson St. and
into the Assabet. |
